What a most felicitous happenstance it was that we stumbled upon your place. After camping in the Flinders Ranges in the cold and wet, the almost sinful luxury of the Caledonian in the lovely city of Broken Hill came as a delightful end to our short holiday. My only regret is that we didn't have enough time to stay longer. The ensuite room out the back was so very comfortable, the lounge and dining area were great and the breakfast was wonderful. Your porridge was better even than my Scottish Grandmother used to make. I really liked the samples of local artists you had on the walls along with the guidance on how to find them. Your hospitality was second to none, and we have been raving about how wonderful the experience was to all our friends and family, including the very reasonable rates. I will definitely be making another trip to Broken Hill as soon as we can to enjoy the Caledonian again.

Hi to those who find their way to this page. I am slowly adding testimonials from the time our B & B started in 2002 and so I ask that you be patient with me and eventually we will have more current comments for you to view - Thanks - Hugh

The scrambled eggs were a great wake up call endorsed by a powerful yet somehow sensual hit of embracing coffee. My wonderful hosts were ever attentive to my demands for knowledge of the region to such an extent that I was left with an impressed look upon my face. I can't wait to make another visit and experience genuine warmth and friendship.

Sometimes we are guided by a good star and it seems I had a bunch of them. The only thing I disagree with is why I didn't plan to stay a longer time. How I have enjoyed Barb's and Hugh's company. their hospitality, eating, drinking, talking with them. I'll miss the artwork everywhere in the house, the big table in the dining room, so nicely set every morning for breakfast I'll terribly miss my Green Room, I've slept so well in the gorgeous sheets. Thank you Barb & Hugh for giving me a look in your great Australian Heart. I felt very well in your house - But best of all I'll come back again staying much longer. Thanks Roswitha

I've taken the sheet thing on board Barb, I might be hitting on you for some more advice. Thoroughly enjoyable - not enough time - but we laughed & lived - cheers Sandy

The best! We had a superb time at "the Cally"in Broken Hill. Some memories will stay forever. The strawberry jam and lime marmalade as well as the cooked breakfasts were better than my Mum ever cooked!. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The hospitality was second to none. We loved staying here from the moment we entered the building. The decor is magnificent. The full breakfast is superb. We loved the fact that there was always a cuppa available, and the Anzacs were a delight. The beds were great for a good night's sleep. Thanks Hugh & Barb. One day hopefully we will be back - Lorna & Ron
